Biography

 He is currently the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chairman of the Party Committee and the Executive Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1996, he served as vice president, party member; in 2004 served as executive vice president, deputy party secretary (positive ministerial level). Deputy member of the 15th, 16th and 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the developing countries, vice president of the United States National Academy of Sciences, Foreign Academy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Honorary Academician of the Indian Academy of Sciences. The United States, Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Australia and many other honorary doctorate. Part-time vice chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, honorary chairman of China Micro-Association, the National Science and Technology Coordination Committee of nano-chief scientist, Chinese Academy of Sciences Dean and so on. The Central Talent Work Coordination Group, the national education reform leading group, the national "second five" national economic and social development planning expert group member, national science and technology reward committee vice chairman and so on. He is also a co-editor or international editor of several important international academic journals in chemistry and nanotechnology.
