Biography
Ding Li, Professor in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Sun Yat-sen University since 2009. Prof. Li got his B.S. from Department of Chemistry at Peking University in 1989, and his Ph.D. from Department of Chemistry at University of Minnesota in 1995. After his postdoctoral training at Harvard University and Texas A&M University in 1995-2000, he assumed a faculty position at City University of Hong Kong in 2000-2009 as Assistant and then Associate Professor. Prof. Li has published almost 100 papers in SCI journals, including J. Am. Chem. Soc., J. Biol. Chem., Structure, Org. Lett., Chem.Comm., J. Med. Chem., Biomacromolecules, with average impact factor of 4.1. Prof. Li’s main research and teaching area include Chemical Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Prof. Li is principle investigator and received funding supports from several organizations including National Natural Science Foundation of China and Research Grants Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Prof. Li’s current research is about regulation of oncogene expression by DNA secondary structures including G-quadruplex, i-motif, and hairpin, as well as their binding proteins. Prof. Li is also interested in basic research in Alzheimer’s disease and cardiovascular disease.
