Guan Yongyuan

Biography

Guan Yongyuan professor of Pharmacology, member of Pharmaceutical Science Evaluation Group of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council of China, member of Academic Committee of Sun Yat-Sen University, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Sun Yat-Sen University (Medical Sciences), director of Cardiac & Cerebral Vascular Research Center in Zhongshan School of Medicine. From 1985 to 1997, he took a postdoctoral fellow training, and worked as a visiting professor in the University of British Columbia, MacMaster University and the University of Chicago, respectively.He has published 75 papers in international journals, including Circulation, Circulation Reseach, Hypertension, Trends in Pharmacological Sciences, Journal Biological Chemistry. So far, he has obtained 11 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China, one of National Basic Research Program of China（973 Program）and 18 grants from the Ministry of Education and Science Foundation of Guangdong Province.

Research Interest

His research mainly focuses on the mechanism of cerebrovascular remodeling , the alteration of Ca2+ /Cl- channels and relative signal pathway. He found that both TMEM16ACa2+ activated and ClC-3 volume regulated Cl- channels, in various manner, mediated cerebrovascular remodeling induced by hypertension through intervening vascular cell proliferation and apoptosis.
