Biography
Hu Xuchu is currently working as associate professor of Parasitology, Ph.D. member of Key Laboratory of Tropical Disease Control (Sun Yat-Sen University), Ministry of Education.He has published 40 papers in international journals, including Plos One, vaccine, Molecular Biochemical Parasitolgy, Experimental Parasitology, Parasitology Research, Dig Dis Sci. So far, he has obtained 2 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China, one of National Basic Research Program of China (973) and 1 grant from the Science Foundation of Ministry of Science& technology ofChina.
Research Interest
His research mainly focuses on the molecular biology and immunology of parasites, through reverse vaccinology and bioinformatics, to screen parasite’s target genes from GenBank database, and to develop parasite-derived antigens for immunodiagnosis, vaccine and immunomodulation, and the mechanism of helminth infection providing host to resist bacterial and viral infection and cancer. He found that both helminth infection and some antigens extracted from the worms or recombinant antigens inoculation can protect the host from fatal bacterial or viral infection and cancer through the antibodies cross-reacted with host’s homologues and anti-inflammation immunological modulation.
