Biography
Jun Du, Professor and Head of the Department of Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy. Prof Du earned his MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and master degree from Norman Bethune Medical University at 1984 and 1987, respectively. Then, he worked at the same university as TA and lecture. In 1994, he studied at Nagoya University, Japan, to get the PhD degree in immunology and then become the teacher at the university after graduate. In 2004, he was invited to join in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences to be the head of the Department of Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy according to the “100 Plan” of Sun Yat-sen University. His main research interests include 1) the design and molecular mechanisms of biomolecular targeted drugs; 2) the molecular mechanisms of tumor immunological tolerance and tumor vaccine. He has more than twenty years experiences on the tumor immunological tolerance and the target therapy, and familiar with the frontier of cell signaling pathways, gene expression regulation and gene knockdown. He was the leader of the third group of the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program 2011CB9358003), and responsible for many research projects such as the National Science and Technology Major Project of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Bureau of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology. He has published more than 30 peer-review research articles in his field, and applied 8 Chinese patents, in which 5 applications have been authorized.
