Biography
Dr. Mengfeng Li is a Cheong-Kung Professor of Microbiology and Medicine at Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) Zhongshan School of Medicine. He was recruited by SYSU to his current academic appointment in 2006 after serving as a faculty member of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, USA. Dr. Li’s academic interest is the molecular bases underlying uncontrolled inflammation, severe viral infection and cancer, as well as the linking mechanisms among these biomedically important scenarios, including the genetic and epigenetic regulation of NF-kB signaling and related pathways. Disease models employed in his research include lung cancer, glioma, breast cancer, Dengue hemorrhagic fever, etc. He is an author of over 80 internationally circulating and indexed research articles and 10 invention patents, and supported by over 30 millian RMB Yuen through numerous federal/national major research grants awarded from NSFC, MOST and other funding agencies.
Research Interest
Research Interest : 1. Genetic and epigenetic modulation of inflammatory signaling (such as the NF-kB pathway) leading to uncontrolled inflammation. 2. Biological and clinical significance of uncontrolled inflammation in the development and progression of severe viral infection and cancer progression. 3. Molecular pathogenesis of tropical diseases (such as Dengue infection). 4. Identification and development of therapeutic drugs targeting inflammation-associated viral infection and cancer.
