Biography
Prof. Quan got his Ph.D. degree in 2002 at Osaka City University Medical School. From 2002 to 2005, he worked as a foreign special researcher for Japan Society of Promotion Science (JSPS), and took his postdoctoral training at Osaka City University. In 2006, he was offered a professor ship at Gansu Institution of Political Science and Law, and worked as the associate dean of College of Public Security. In 2007, he was offered an assistant professor ship at Osaka City University. In 2009, he moved to Sun Yat-Sen University via the “Hundreds of Talents Project”. His major academic contributions are 1) discovering first the relationship between the degeneration of neurons in substantia nigra and causes of death (asphyxia and fire fatality); 2) discovering first the relationship between the expression of EPO and the survival time after injury. These two findings attract extensive attention in the field of forensic pathology. Moreover, he began to conduct STR analysis to X chromosome in Chinese Han population since he came back to China. Prof. Quan has totally 68 SCI-listed publications, among which he was the corresponding author or the first author of 14. His papers were published in Legal Medicine, Forensic Science International, International Journal of Legal Medicine, Electrophoresis, with the accumulated impact factor and citation times exceeding 100 by December, 2013. He has won funds from Japan Society of Promotion Science (JSPS) and Provincial Natural Science Fund of Guangdong. Besides, he was the associate editor of Advanced Forensic (The second version), and participated in writing Forensic pathology atlas.
Research Interest
He focuses mainly on 1) the relationship between the changes of neurons in substantia nigra and different causes of death; 2) the relationship between the expression of serological biochemical parameters and the survival time after injury.
