Biography
Sheng Yin, Professor in Medicinal Chemistry. He received BS degree in chemistry from Fudan University in 2003. He received PhD degree in Medicinal Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008 with several awards, such as “President Award” in CAS, “Excellent Graduate of Shanghai”, “Excellent Thesis” award nomination in CAS. In October 2008, he became a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Ron Quinn’s group in Eskitis institute, Queensland, Australia, where he switched his research subject from ‘land’ to ‘marine’. He received “early career researcher award” at Griffith University in 2010. He joined Sun Yat-Sen University in 2010. So far, he has isolated and identified more than 400 compounds from high plants and marine organisms, among which 80 compounds are new and 5 skeletons are unprecedented. Two compounds with novel skeletons were selected as Hot off the press in Natural Product Reports and some bioactive compounds have already been developed as drug leads. He published more than 30 papers in magazines such as Organic Letters, Tetrahedron, Journal of Natural Products, Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, in which 18 papers are first authored or corresponding authored. His research interests are bioassay-guided isolation, structural identification, modification and bioactivity evaluation of natural products.
