Tim Beaumont is a Research Associate at the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai campus). He obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2016 with a thesis on John Stuart Mill’s ‘Art of Life’. His main interests lie in ethics and political philosophy, on the one hand, and the philosophy of history and social science, on the other. Within the former, he is especially interested in the nature of the good life, and teleologically-grounded forms of liberalism. Within the latter, he is especially interested in ontological and methodological individualism, and the methodological constraints on attributing beliefs to historical thinkers.
