Wang Guanlei

Biography

Wang Guanlei Professor, deputy chairman of the department of pharmacology in Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. She got Ph.D. of Pharmacology in Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences in 1999. During the period of October 2001 to June 2005, She pursued postdoctoral training and worked as a research assistant professor in department of pharmacology, school of medicine, University of Nevada, Reno, USA, focusing on the role and molecular mechanisms of volume-regulated chloride channels and potassium channels in cardiac disease.The main academic contributions in the past years include: Uncover the important role of ClC-3 chloride channel proteins in cellular proliferation of vascular smooth muscle (published in Circulation Research, 2002). Prove the volume-regulated properties of potassium channel in mouse ventricular myocytes and regulating mechanism. Confirm the role of Kv1.5 potassium channel in oxidative endothelial injury. Discover and develop the new marine drugs xyloketal B. She has published 24 SCI-listed papers in international journals, including Circulation Research, Hypertension, Journal Biological Chemistry, and Journal of physiology-london. She has successfully obtained the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 program) in 2006.

Research Interest

Her study was supported by the AHA postdoctoral fellowship (2003-2005). Her research mainly focuses on: 1) Function and molecular mechanisms of chloride channels in hypertension, stroke and diabetes; 2) Research and development of new marine drugs.
