Biography
Wang Haihe Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. From 1994 to 1997, he got his bachelor degree and master degree in Northwestern Agricultural University, P.R. China. And he got his Ph.D. degree in Fujian Agricultural University, P.R.China in 2000. He completed his postdoctoral training at Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore in 2003 and worked as Research Fellow for a later year. He moved in Division of Proteomic of Genome Institute (GIS), Singapore, as a Research Fellow in 2004 to 2005. Subsequently, he worked in Signal transduction Lab, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), between 2005 and 2011. In 2011, Dr. Wang moved back to China to hold a faculty position as a professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. Dr. Wang’s current research interests focus on molecular mechanisms of cancer stem cell formation, tumorigenersis and cancer metastasis. So far, he has got his innovational papers published on Cancer Cell, Cancer Research, Cancer, etc. Meanwhile, in recent years, he has been invited to present his work in international academic conferences hold in USA, UK, Greece and Switzland.
Research Interest
In recent years, Dr. Wang dissected the underlying molecular mechanism of PRL-3 in promoting tumorigenersis and metastasis, and uncovered the unexpected translational regulation mechanism of PRL-3 in cells. Combined the basic research with the clinic diagnosis, he proposed that PRL-3 expression could be a marker of tumor metastasis. He also found that SH3BGRL enhances tumor cell survival and invasiveness by activating MAPK and PI3K-AKT pathway.
