Biography
Yang Huiling is a Professor and supervisor for Ph.D candidate of department of pathophysiology in Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. After graduating from Zhongshan Medical college in 1978, she worked at the department of pathophysiology, and obtained her master degree of pathophysiology in Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Science in 1989. From August 2001 to September 2003, she was invited to study molecular and cellular oncology as a visiting scientist in M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of America. She participated in various of academic exchange activities and research cooperations of anti-cancer agents and epigenetics of cancer radiation resistance with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Standford University, Georgetown Medical Center, or Science and Technology University of Hong Kong between 2006-2009. In recent years, with the cooperation of school’s preponderant discipline, clinic and overseas, Yang’s lab had explored the effect and mechanism of genes, marine microbial metabolites and curcumin analogues for cancer treatment and Radiation tolerance. She clarified the effect and mechanism of 14-3-3σ transfection mediated by adenovirus in NPC treatment, proved that 14-3-3σ, P27 and p19 can suppress cancer cell proliferation and tumor formation. She revealed that by mediating Akt-p27 pathway negative regulator of cell cycle can induce cancer cell apoptosis. Her lab had proved that aberrant expression of miRNA was involve in the NPC radioresistance, Marine microbial metabolites and curcumin analogues could reverse NPC radioresistance by regulate ERS pathway. Recently her lab eyed on the regulation mechanism and intervention of miRNA in NPC radiation and chemotherapy resistance. Using a variety of custom build NPC cells, her lab had screened and validated aberrant expression of miRNAs and its t target protein, and begun to step into the field of DNA methylation and its involvement in the radiation resistance of NPC. So far, she has hosted more than 20 research programs funded by National Nature Science Fund and Guangdong provincial government; published a total of 80 articles, with more than 20 Sci papers which she was the corresponding author of 7 and the first author of 5. She had published over 10 monograph publications, acquired one Chinese invention patent (NO. ZL20051 0102126.0).
Research Interest
She is long engaged in the research of the pathogenesis of cancer, mainly focus on genetic regulation of cell cycle, apoptosis and related signaling pathways of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC), together with the study of radiation and chemotherapy resistance of NPC.
