Biography
Yang Zhonghan is associate professor. He received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Sun Yat-sen University in 2007. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Maryland from 2010 to 2012, at the same time, he performed the research field of infection immunity and obesity as visiting scholar in Beltsville Human Nutrition Center (BHNRC) of United State Department of Agriculture (USDA). He explored the pathological expression difference and regulatory role of angiogenic factors in the angiogenesis disease such as solid tumor and diabetes mellitus. He also applied the knockout animal/cell model of TLR4-/-ã€IL4Rα-/-ã€STAT6-/-ã€Rag2-/- to identify that the imbalance of Th1/Th2 cytokines and the disorder of MAPK/NF-κB/STATs pathways are the main pathological mechanism, which serves as the target for treatment in inflammatory disease. Professor Yang’s research program is focused on the immunometabolism, an emerging field between immunity and metabolism. He has published a total of 40 articles, with 10 as first or senior author. He has delivered over 20 invited lectures at scientific meetings and academic institutions. So far, he has obtained one grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 5 grants from the Ministry of Education and Science Foundation of Guangdong Province.
