Research Interest
1 The molecular and immune approaches to rebuild cellular and humoral immune system in HIV-1 patients receiving suppressive HAART. To this end, the antigen-specific CD8 or CD4 T-cell-mediated cellular immune reaction or Tfh-mediated B cell reaction will be investigated with various in vitro and in vivo models. The goal of these projects is for the “functional cure” of AIDS patients who then can survive well without taking any antiretroviral drugs. 2 The mechanism and specific reactivation of HIV-1 latency. 3 The epigenetic regulation of viral pathogenesis, immune reaction, cell renewal and differentiation, and reprogramming. Especially, the molecular mechanisms and targets for various miRNAs, piRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and histone methylations/demethylations. 4 The pathogenesis of newly-identified H7N9 influenza virus. Especially, the molecular mechanism for its zoonostic transmission from avian to human. 5 High-throughput screening and development of anti-viral compounds for HIV-1, HCV, influenza, dengue etc. In addition, several anti-tumor specific inhibitors and immunoregulators are also under development.
