Biography

Dr Muhammad D Abdulrahman is an Associate Professor and Section Head for Operations Management at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China. He has an industry background in Manufacturing Systems and Technologies, a PhD on Management Science and Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University. Prior to joining Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) China, he taught at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. His outside academic working experience was in various engineering departments of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), including the Engineering and Technical Services Department, Port-Harcourt Refinery, Nigeria (Aug. 1988- Nov. 1988), Warri Refinery and Petro-Chemical Co. Ltd. Warri, Delta State, Nigeria (June 1990-November 1990) Pipelines and Products Marketing Company Ltd. Abaji-Abuja, FCT (September 1991-September 1992 - NYSC); where he was responsible for the inspection, testing and maintenance of various equipment.

Research Interest

Dr Muhammad’s research interest is in the field of operations management, supply chain management, reverse logistics, sourcing and sourcing complexity. He is current working in various research areas that include the strategic management of automobile industry, sustainability, lean and green operations in manufacturing industries. Dr Muhammad is also on the UNNC Innovation Team investigating low-carbon and sustainable manufacturing systems in China. He is on the UNNC research ethics committee.
