Biography
Saileshsingh Gunessee has been an Assistant Professor in Economics in NUBS China since 2007. He completed his PhD in Economics at the School of Economics of the University of Nottingham. His research covers the areas of ‘Spatial Economics’, ‘Economics of International Business’, ‘Experimental & Behavioural Economics’ and ‘China-related Economics’. He is now working on: micro-geographic analysis of economic activities; location & clustering of Multinationals in China; FDI Spillovers; Spatial Entrepreneurship & Innovation; Chinese Outward M&A and FDI; Corruption in China (conceptually and experimentally); SME Access to Finance. He also did work on tax competition, Chinese consumer behaviour and trade. Some of these works have led to a great affinity towards micro data and the use of microeconometrics to analyse such data. He teaches ‘Economics of Organisation’ and ‘Industrial Economics B: Games & Strategies’ at the undergraduate level. He has also taught Research Methods and Microeconomics at all levels.

Foreign Direct Investment & Multinationals (Location Choice of MNEs; FDI/MNE Spillover Effects; Chinese Outward FDI); Spatial Economics (Location and Clustering of Economic Activities, including small businesses and MNEs); Taxation (Fiscal Competition; Corporate Taxation); Behavioural Economics & Experimental Economics (Social Preferences; Decision Making under Risk; Compliance with the Law/Regulation; Corruption). Some of his China-related work includes: Outward FDI; Micro-Geographic Location of Inward Foreign Investors; Small Business Formation and Location Decisions; Chinese Entrepreneurship & Innovation; Chinese Economic Psychology & Decision-Making.
