Research Interest
Autophagy is a key mechanism for clearance of damaged cellular components, which is tightly related to aging and human diseases. We employ cutting-edge techniques of cell biology and biochemistry to study the mechanisms and functions of autophagy. Our major focus is the mechanism of autophagic membrane formation, its role in degrading toxic protein aggregates and unconventional secretion. In addition, we are also interested in the involvement of autophagy in maintaining homeostasis and the pathogenesis of human disease, e.g. cancer and neurodegeneration.
