Biography
Shan Gao is both an associate professor in the School of Foreign Languages and a member of research faculty at the Center for Information in Medicine in the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. She received the B.A. degree in English Language from Sichuan International Studies University, Chongqing, in 1999, the M.A. degree in Developmental and Educational Psychology from Southwest Normal University, Chongqing, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, in 2015. She was also an visiting professor in the School of Psychology in Bangor University, UK, between Sept. 2013 and Aug. 2014. She uses electrophysiological, neuroimaging, and neuropharmacological methodologies to investigate the molecular and brain mechanisms underlying language and social communication, particularly interactions of language with thought, emotion, and music. She has published refereed papers in international journals such as PNAS and Journal of Neuroscience.
