Biography
Dragos is Professor of Manufacturing Engineering in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. He began his career as a tooling/fixturing design engineer and then worked for ten years in industrial research related to material characterisation/testing and component failure analysis; during this period he carried out a part-time PhD on process control to ensure workpiece surface quality in grinding. After he obtained two personal NATO Research Fellowships in Italy and Denmark he moved from Romania to UK (2000) to carry out research at the University of Birmingham and subsequently at the University of Nottingham, UK. He was appointed Lecturer in Manufacturing Engineering (2005) and successively promoted to Associate Professor (2007), Reader (2010) and Professor (2011) at University of Nottingham, UK. Since 2016 he has been actively involved at University of Nottingham – Ningbo Campus, China by supporting the manufacturing research activities. Dragos is Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineer (IMechE) and Fellow of the International Academy of Production Engineering (FCIRP). He is Associate Editor for the International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, a leading journal in the field of manufacturing science and technology.
