Biography
Guoping Qiu took up the role of Head of the School of Computer Science in September 2012 and is also Director of the International Doctoral Innovation Centre (IDIC), a 170 million RMB (£17 million) investment venture to train PhD students in the areas of energy technologies and digital economy. He joined the School of Computer Science at The University of Nottingham, UK, in September 2000 as a lecturer. In 2004, he was promoted to Reader in Visual Information Processing and is now a Professor of Visual Information Processing. At The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, he has held senior management positions, including Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering from July 2013 to December 2013.
Research Interest
image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision, machine learning, data mining and their real-life applications, high dynamic range imaging and video, multimedia content analysis and processing, content-based image indexing and retrieval, automatic image annotation, and medical image analysis (digital pathology).
