Biography
Expertise summary José R. Sánchez-Fung is a full-time member of the economics faculty in the University of Nottingham’s Business School in Ningbo, China. He is also Associate Fellow of the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of London and Member of the International Advisory Board of the social sciences journal Ciencia y Sociedad published by INTEC in the Dominican Republic. Dr Sánchez-Fung served as Director of the Economic Research and Monetary Programming Department, and voting Member of the monetary policy-making Open Market Committee, at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic between 2003 and 2004. He has held visiting researcher appointments at Columbia, Georgetown, Fudan, Oxford (St Antony’s College), and the Bank of Finland Research Department’s BOFIT in Helsinki.
Research Interest
Professor Sánchez-Fung’s research focuses on empirical and policy-relevant issues with particular emphasis on open-economy macroeconomics and monetary policy, and development economics and policy. The corresponding articles have been published in academic journals like the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Applied Economics, Economic Modelling, Review of Development Economics, and World Economy. His academic research has been presented in professional conferences and seminars at universities around the world including in York (UK), Santiago, Zurich, Chennai, and Shenzhen.
