Konstantinos Kostopoulos

Biography

A registered architect in Greece since 1990, I have teaching building technology & design at the Democritus University of Thrace from 2003 to 2010, and tectonics at the University of Patras in Greece from 2010 t0 2013, balancing my time between academic teaching and professional work. Since the autumn semester of 2013 I am teaching Design Studio and Tectonics at UNNC.  My professional practice includes residential work, multi-unit housing and mixed-use development; significant experience in architectural & construction building design & coordination, airport & sports facilities, logistic centers & other building types.  I participated in the preparation of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games as a consultant for the Athens Organizing Committee (ATHOC), and in the construction of the New Athens International Airport with Consortium Leader HOCHTIEF and I have been involved in sustainable building design, earning a commendation at the international competition Zephyr. Attended advanced academic training in building physics & sustainable technologies at the U. of Athens.  I am a registered Architect and Building Energy Auditor in Greece 

Research Interest

My academic research is mostly limited to my on-going dissertation “Critical Analysis of the Applications of Contemporary Technology and Building Systems in the Architectural Production” and is related to:  • Advanced façade design and integration to architecture.
