Biography
Associate Professor Rosangela Tenorio is an architect and environmental design consultant. Prior to joining The University of Nottingham China (UNNC), she worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland (New Zealand), as a Senior Lecturer at the Federal University of Bahia (Salvador), and as research fellow at the Brazilian Centre for Wind Energy (Recife). She holds a PhD from the University of Queensland (Australia) on environmental design, and has been actively engaged on studio teaching and the development of an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and contextual pedagogy for architectural education that embraces science and art as core aspects of design. She has lived and worked as an architect and researcher in Tokyo (Nihon Daigaku), Milan (Piero Lissoni Arquitettura e Disegno), New York (Peter Eisenman Architects), Brisbane (University of Queensland), Salvador (Federal University of Bahia and Architropico), Recife (Atrio arquitetura e Design, Borsoi architects, Federal University of Pernambuco) and Auckland (University of Auckland). Her research interests and publications include design for education and development, self-sufficient school design, ecological footprint and bioclimatic historic studies of traditional settlements in developing economies (India, China, Brazil, Mexico). She is one of the project leaders of the ‘Learning capsule project’ – 2015-16. This is a joint partnership between UNNC, industry partners, NGO Adream-China and the local educational body in Gansu province, to improve delivery of quality education through integrated design (architectural design, product design, engineering design and educational design).
