Biography
Xi Gao joined the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) in August 2016 as a Teaching Fellow in Applied mathematics and is currently teaching Engineering Mathematics 1&2 and Applied Mathematics. He is core member of the Advanced and Intelligent Manufacturing Research Group (AIMRG) and associate member of Research Centre for Fluids and Thermal Engineering (FTE). He has expertise in numerical modelling of elastoplasticity of solid under continuous cycling loading (e.g. traffic loading, earth quake and wave loading). In addition, he specializes in modelling the mechanical performance (e.g. fatigue and degradation) of bio-compatible and fully resorbable fibre reinforced composite under static and dynamic loadings.
Research Interest
Numerical interpretation of the performance of bio-compatible and fully resorbable glass fibre reinforced composites under static and dynamic loading; the degradation of the composite in aqueous environment; the study of the potential of the composite to be employed as fracture bone fixation device.
