Biography

Xuan Feng is an Assistant Professor in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour, Nottingham University Business School China. She received her PhD in Social and Organizational Psychology from the Ludwig Maximilians University, Germany. Her academic and work expertise lands in the areas of Assessment and Development of Ethically Oriented Leadership, Employee Well-being, Corporate Diversity and Meaningfulness at work. Prior to joining Nottingham University Business School China, Xuan has extensive experience working with companies, research institutions as well as top and middle management in Europe and China. Combining research approaches and business practices, Xuan has designed and delivered global employee surveys as well as provided consultancy service for companies and management on leadership and HR topics. She also worked in different business functions, such as Human Resource, Corporate Communication and Change Management, in DAX and medium-sized corporations. During her PhD study, Xuan took a guest lecturer role at TUM School of Management in Munich where she led International Management and Leadership courses for EMBA students. She has also led courses, seminars and workshops in the area of leadership, intercultural management and diversity for public, business and social sectors in China and Germany. Xuan is an active member of several international social and non-profit organizations where she voluntarily supported the people and organizational development across the globe.

Research Interest

Xuan’s research focuses primarily on the human, organizational and corporate factors that influence effective leadership in business. Currently, her work investigates the antecedents and mechanisms of servant leadership in various business contexts. A strong emphasis of her work is given to value congruence and motivation as a key mechanism of linking positive leadership and employee well-being and meaningfulness at work. Additionally Xuan is interested in developing, implementing and evaluating of interventions to promote people and organizational development in compelling work contexts.
