Biography

Wen Longping, professor and Ph.D. supervisor, is selected into CAS Hundred Talents Program.. He was born in Wuping, Fujian Province in December 1961. In 1982 he graduated from Department of Biology of Xiamen University and in the same time he went to study in the United States as a student of CUSBEA (China–United States Biochemistry Examination and Application) program. In 1988 he obtained doctoral degree in biochemistry from University of California, Los Angeles; from 1988 to 1990, he served as postdoctoral fellow at Department of Molecular Pharmacology of Stanford University, studied the regulation mechanism of gene expression for human cytochrome (P-450) and developed the first in uitra transcription system simulating inducible expression function of dioxin genes in the world. From 1990 to 1993 he served as researcher at Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology of Singapore and in the meantime he won the Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship. From 1993 to 1995 he served as associate professor at Xiamen University. From 1995 to 1998, he served as senior postdoctoral fellow at School of Medicine of Stanford University, studied molecular mechanism of apoptosis and found cleavage of focal adhesion kinase by caspases during apoptosis. His research papers published in JBC have been quoted more than 218 times. In 1998 he obtained MBA degree from Cornell University, and then began to serve as R&D director at a number of biotechnology companies in United States, Canada and China and specialized in strategic consultations for high-tech enterprises. In February 2004 he was selected into CAS Hundred Talents Program and began to serve as professor at School of Life Sciences, USTC. Professor Wen Longping has published more than 20 papers in SCI journals and filed a number of patents.
