In 1999 he got his PhD from the Institute of Plasma Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and has been awarded the special prize of 1999 president scholarship for postgraduate students. He has studied in Columbia University for his PhD project from 1995-1998 and worked in the Gray Cancer Institute, United Kingdom, as a visiting scholar from 2002-2003. In 2001, Dr. Lijun Wu was promoted to be a professor in biophysics and supervisor for Ph.D. students. He is the member for Biophysical Society of China and Chinese Society of ToxicologyThe main interests of Dr. lijun Wu include the interaction between the environmental factors and mammalian cells, biological effects of low energy ions, single particle microbeam and its application in plant development, and the bystander effects of radiation. As a primary investigator, he takes charge several projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. To be the main investigator, he also joined several projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology, such as high tech research and development (863) programme and the key technologies R & D programme for the tenth five-year Plan. Up to now, there are 4 students under his instruction. Students in biology and biophysics are welcome.
