Biography
Yuejin Wu, male, born in 1958. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Plasma Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1995, he was promoted to be a professor in plant genetics. From 1997 to 1998, he worked as a visiting scientist in the Centre for Plant Cell Biology Research at Melbourne University in Australia and focused on the development related projects in plant at a molecular level. He was nominated as a candidate for Millions of National Outstanding Fellow Engineering in the first and second round selection in 1998. He has received the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award in1994, the Second Prize of the Sci-Tech Advance Award from Anhui province in 1994, the First Prize of the Natural Science Award from Anhui Province in 2000, and the Second Prize of the National Tech-InventionAward in 2006. He is a member of Cell Biology and Genetics Society in Anhui Province. His main research interests focused on the biological effects of low energy ions, new mutant creation in plant, and seed aging. He found a new gene in controlling the dominant semi-dwarf of rice, which was classified by its molecular marker and localization. In addtion, he found that one of the key genes related to the storage ability of paddy wasLox gene, which plays an essential role in the delay of paddy aging, the prolongation of paddy life-span, and the reduction of pest hazard in the storage. The localiztion and clone analysis results on such gene indicated a mechanism invovled in the long-life gene funciton in rice.In recent years, he has received several grants from the national “863”Program,“948”Program, National Natural Science Foundation, and the key technologies R & D program for the tenth five-year Plan. Now, there are 11 graduate students under his instruction. Students majoring in biology and biophysics are welcome.
