Biography
Xu Fei, male, professor, Ph.D. supervisor, is currently the director of Dept. of the Philosophy of Science and Technology. He was enrolled in USTC in 1978 and obtained bachelor’s degree in Geophysics in 1983, master’s degree in Philosophy of Science and Technology in 1988 and doctoral degree in History of Science and Technology in 1996. He was a postdoctoral fellow in Harvard University from 1997 to 1998, a visiting scholar in Harvard University in 2002,2011 and a visiting professor in Needham Research Institute in Cambridge, UK, in 2005. In recent years he has published over 50 papers on core journals at home and abroad and international academic conferences. His research achievement was awarded First Prize of Anhui Natural Science Excellent Papers. He has published 10 books and over 100 articles. He has presided and finished several provincial or ministerial research projects including projects of National Social Science Foundation, National Natural Science Foundation, USTC Young Scientists Funds, CAS Selectively Support for Returned Overseas Students and Research Grant Funds Returned Overseas Students by Ministry of Education. He is currently presiding projects of National Natural Science Foundation and key project of Eleventh Five-year Plan of Ministry of Education. He won CAS President Award and the 1st Cross Century Excellent Young Talents Award of USTC. He is an evaluation expert of National Natural Science Foundation, member of editorial board of 《Studies in Science of Science》 and 《Studies in Dialectics of Nature》. He was one of the first to be selected into New Century Excellent Talents Program of Ministry of Education. Research areas: Philosophy of Science and Technology, History of Science and Technology and Science and Technology Studies.
