Biography
Zhou Youyuan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor, doctoral supervisor, former director of the Center for Astrophysics at USTC, deputy director of the Academic Degrees Committee of USTC. His main research areas include quasars, active galaxies, high energy astrophysics, cosmology and large scale structure of the universe. He has published over a hundred research papers and the monograph . Most of the research papers were published on important domestic and international astrophysics journals, some of which were presented or referenced by the international authoritative academic journals including "Nature" and "Annual Review of Astronomy and Astrophysics". Awards and Honors include National Science Conference Award, 2nd prize of CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) Natural Science Award (twice), CAS Key Projects excellence award, and CAS Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Scientist Award. He has given ten courses to undergraduate students, including "General Physics" and "Basic Theoretical Physics", and six graduate courses in astrophysics. He has trained more than 10 graduate students, and been awarded the first prize for teaching in Anhui Province, the 2nd prize of State Board of Education Outstanding Teaching Award, and Chinese Academy of Sciences Outstanding Teacher Award.
