Wei Hua Yan

Biography

Wei Hua Yan is an Associate Professor and Director of the Medical Research Center Taizhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province affiliated to Wenzhou Medical College China. He earned his PhD in Immunology at Shanghai Institute of Immunology Shanghai Second Medical University, Shanghai, China. He has published more than thirty international peer reviewed research papers and reviews. He has served as a member of American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Medical Association for Hematological Diseases of Zhejiang Province Society for Immunology of Zhejiang Province and as Vice-Director of Society for Clinical Immunology of Zhejiang Province, China. He has served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals in the area of cancer biology, clinical immunology and immunogenetics. He has received many awards like Distinguished Returned Overseas scholars of Zhejiang Province Zhejiang Provincial program for the cultivation of highlevel innovative health talents, China.

Research Interest

Human leukocyte antigen-G (HLA-G) is a potent immunosuppressive molecule by inducing functional silencing of both innate and adaptive immune responses. An increasing number of studies have highlighted the clinical relevance of HLA-G expression in certain pathological conditions, such as infection, oncology, autoimmunity, inflammation and transplantation. The long-term goal of his lab is to understand the physiological function and clinical significance of HLA antigens, in particular the HLA-G molecule, and the molecular mechanisms underlying HLA-involved in various physical and pathological conditions.
