Sven Menčik

Biography

Doc. dr. sc. Sven Menčik was born on May 27, 1982 in Zagreb, where he finished elementary and high school. In 2002 he enrolled in a study at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Zagreb. He graduated in 2008 and worked on the graduate thesis "Breeding and Production of Pigs" at the Department of Livestock under the mentorship of prof. Ph.D. Tomislava Balenovića. During 2008, she has been employed at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb in the same Institute where she has graduated, as a scientific novelist-assistant on the scientific-research project of the Ministry of Science of Education and Sports of Republic of Croatia No. 053-0532265-2238: "Patobiology of Prenatal, Perinatal and Postnatal Losses in Breeding of Pigs "(then Head: Prof. Tomislav Balenović) dr. sc. Anamarija Ekert Kabalin. She graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2009 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. I graduated on February 27, 2014 on the topic "Polymorphism of genes in high-fat sows". The scientific title of scientific associate was elected in 2015, and the scientific-teaching title of docent in the field of biomedicine sciences, field of veterinary medicine / animal production and biotechnology was selected in 2016. He actively participates in the performance of integrated teaching and graduate studies from three compulsory courses (Basic Statistics in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Breeding and Animal Breeding and Animal Production) and one elective entitled Breeding and Production of Rabbits and Fur. He is also a co-worker on courses of continuing education. In 2009 he was deputy VIP project of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Republic of Croatia "Dalmatian Tango - Phenotypic Characteristics and Ecological Determinations of the Areal (head of the Prof. Dr. Anamarija Ekert Kabalin). From 2010 to 2012 he was an associate in the project "Application of new technologies in cow-veal system" (head of Igor Štoković, PhD). He attended the "DNA and RNA" course at Ruđer Bošković Institute in 2012, while in 2013 he participated in the course entitled "Computer algorithms in animal breeding with special focus on genomic selection". He is a member of the project "Polymorphism of candidate genes for fertility of pigs and sheep", led by Prof. dr. sc. Anamarija Ekert Kabal of the IPA project HighTechVets in the period from 2013 to 2015 Prof. Dr. dr. sc. Igor Štoković. I participated in the mobility programs of University staff during 2014, and 2015. I participate in the course "Training program for people working with experimental animals and animals for the production of biological preparations". I am a member of SIVAR (Italian Animal Breeding Association), AGGG (Animal Genetic Discussion Group), EAAP (European Animal Production Association), Croatian Milk Association, Croatian Veterinary Chamber, Professional Advice and Deputy Head of Implementation of Breeding the program of the Black Slavonian Sheep and the Scientific Committee of the Krmiva Congress. I'm married, father of a daughter and a son.
