Biography
ull Professor of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus. Undergraduate studies at the National Technical University of Athens (Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, 1988). Postgraduate studies at Princeton University, USA (Ph.D. in Computer Science, 1994; M.A. in Computer Science,1991). He was a Research Associate at the University of Washington in Seattle (1994-1995) and has held short-term visiting positions at the Paris Research Lab of Digital Equipment Corporation, the University of Crete, and Rutgers University. Served as Head of the Computer Science Department between 2010-2014. Founding Director of the Laboratory for Internet Computing (2001-today). Currently serves as Founding Director of the University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship.
Research Interest
Internet Computing, Network-Centric Systems, Software Tools. Recent research activities focus on Cloud Computing and Online Social Networks. Principal institutional investigator or principal investigator for over 22 projects funded by the European Union and the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus, and has published over 150 papers in books, international scientific journals and refereed conference proceedings. Led the development of several research software systems released internationally.
