PhD in Chemical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA, 1990. Post-doctoral researcher in the Institute for Polymers, Federal Technical University (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland, 1992-1994. Assistant Professor, Department of Natural Sciences and afterwards Department of Chemistry of the University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus, 1995-2002. Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry of the University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus, 2002-2010. Professor, Department of Chemistry of the University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus, 2011-today. Chairman of the Department of Chemistry, 3/2006-3/2008. President of the Pancyprian Union of Chemists, 2007-today. Member of the Executive Committee of EuCheMS (European Association for the Chemical and Molecular Sciences), 10/2004-3/2010.

Research Interest

(1) Specific ion effects on biophysical and physicochemical systems. (2) Synthesis of hybrid materials based on silica for use as sorbents of environmental pollutants. (3) Langmuir-Blodgett molecular film production and Layer-by-layer film production from stabilized nanoparticle dispersions. (4) Oriented oxide films for photocatalytic applications and water splitting. (5) Growth of semiconductor nanocrystals in polymer and/or surfactant solutions.
