Sofronis Clerides

He hοlds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin and a PhD in Economics from Yale University. He has worked as a researcher at the World Bank and taught at Yale University and the European University Institute. In 2009-10 he was a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University. He is currently a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Senior Fellow at the Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis. As of November 2016 he is the Chair of the Economics Department.

Research Interest

His primary field is empirical industrial organization. He has worked on issues relating to pricing, price discrimination, and quality assessment. He has also done work on international trade issues such as the link between exporting and productivity and international trade in used goods. He is currently working on the evaluation of pollution control policies in the road transport sector and on consumer behavior in retail markets.
