Biography
Dr. Tao Weitao currently is an associate professor of Microbiology at Southwest Baptist University in Missouri. He teaches General and Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases and General Biology as well as the related laboratories. His research focuses on evolutionary mechanisms of bacterial antibiotic resistance (biofilms, vesiculation, motility and SOS response), but his interest has extended to the inter-disciplinary area of Biophysics, Biomathematics and Nanotechnology. Dr. Weitao was also a physician specializing in Infectious Disease Control and Public Health in China. He received a degree in Medicine from Henan Medical University in China and PhD from Uppsala University in Sweden with Dr. Kurt Nordström who was a former member of the Nobel Prize Committee. Then he went to California Institute of Technology for postdoctoral training in Molecular Biology
Research Interest
Bacteria, biofilms, vesiculation, motility, SOS response, antibiotic resistance, DNA damage and repair.
