Biography
Aleksandar Jovanovic is Professor at the University of Nicosia Medical School. Professor Jovanovic has obtained his MD/PhD degrees and board certificate in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Belgrade. He was awarded Merck, Sharp & Dohme International Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and received his Clinical Pharmacology training at the Mayo Clinic where he was later appointed as an Instructor of Medicine. Afterwards he has taken up position at the Medical School, University of Dundee, rose through ranks to be appointed as a Professor of Experimental Medicine. His research aim is to understand and therapeutically exploit signalling pathways cells and tissues against ischaemia and other types of metabolic stresses. Professor Jovanovic published many original and review papers in well established peer-reviewed journals and he is an Editor of the European Journal of Pharmacology.
