Biography

Constantina Constantinou is Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Nicosia Medical School. Dr Constantinou holds a BA Degree in Biological Sciences with Distinction in all subjects (concentration in Microbiology) (Cornell University, USA), an MSc in General and Medical Microbiology with Distinction (University College London, London, UK), a PgCertHE (University of Hertfordshire, UK) and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (St George’s, University of London, UK). Her research focuses on the understanding of the molecular mechanisms/ signaling pathways that lead to the induction of apoptosis with a particular interest on the tumor suppressor protein p53. She is also interested in how nutrients can be used in chemopreventive/ chemotherapeutic therapies for cancer.
