Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Su; Research Producer Research 1B Scholarship from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development and coordinator of INCT - National Institute for Research on Antimicrobial Resistance (INPRA). He has published more than 130 articles in specialized journals and more than 400 papers in annals of events. It has 15 chapters of published books. He participated in 11 events abroad and 70 in Brazil, mostly as a speaker. He was the coordinator of an international scientific event in Brazil. He has directed 31 master's theses and co-oriented 5, guided 10 doctoral theses and co-oriented 4, in addition to having guided more than 30 scientific initiation, course completion and specialization work in the areas of Microbiology, Medicine and Pharmacy. Received 5 awards and / or honors. He currently coordinates 5 major research projects. He works in the area of ​​Microbiology, with emphasis in Clinical Microbiology.
