Biography
Dr. Benjamin Chien founded Quest Pharmaceutical Services in 1995 as a single-site CRO focused on bioanalysis services. Over the years, QPS has had tremendous success. Dr. Chien now heads the eight entities that constitute QPS Holdings, LLC: QPS Delaware in Newark, Delaware, USA, focuses on bioanalysis, DMPK, translational medicine and phase II – IV clinical services.QPS Bio-Kinetic in Springfield, Missouri, USA, offers early-phase clinical services.QPS Taiwan in Taipei, Taiwan, offers early-phase clinical, bioanalysis, DMPK and Toxicology, and translational medicine services.QPS Qualitix in Taipei, Taiwan offers phase II – IV clinical services.QPS Netherlands in Groningen, The Netherlands, offers early-phase clinical, bioanalysis, translational medicine and phase II – IV clinical services.QPS Bioserve in Hyderabad, India offers early-phase clinical and bioanalysis services.QPS Austria in Grambach, Austria, offers neuropharmacology, bioanalysis, translational medicine and phase II – IV clinical servicesQPS MRA in Miami, Florida, USA offers early-phase clinical and phase II – IV clinical services In 2008, Dr. Chien was the recipient of the 2008 Delaware Bioscience Association Service Award in recognition of his multi-year contributions and financial support to the development of bioscience in Delaware. In 2013, QPS received Company of The Year Award from Delaware Bioscience Association in recognition of QPS impressive growth globally. Dr. Chien also serves on the board of a number of non-profit organizations. Dr. Chien began his pharmaceutical career at DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Co. in the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Section where he built the LC-MS/MS group. While at DuPont Merck, he received the Summit Award for his contribution to the development of Sustiva®, an anti-viral drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of HIV. In addition, Dr. Chien is the co-inventor of a novel Ion Trap/Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer. Dr. Chien obtained his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry (mass spectrometry) from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
