Biography

Dr. Timm H. Jessen, Ph.D., is the Chief Executive Officer at Topas Therapeutics GmbH. He serves as a Managing Director at BioAgency AG. Dr. Jessen co-founded 2cureX ApS in 2006. Dr. Jessen founded Scienamics GmbH and serves as the Chief Executive Officer. In 1991, he joined Sanofi-Aventis Pharma Research (formerly Hoechst AG), first in the department for Assay Development & Screening and later for the preparation and execution of pre-clinical cardiovascular discovery projects including target validation studies at Harvard Medical School (Dept. of Genetics). He became Steering Committee member in Hoechst´s collaborations with OSI Pharmaceuticals, Incyte and Lynx and was promoted the Head of Biotechnology for HMR Germany. He served as the Chief Scientific Officer of Evotec AG from November 1997 to June 30, 2004. At Evotec, he implemented the company´s uHTS platform successfully at the discovery sites of Novartis, GSK and Pfizer and also led those co-operations on Evotec's behalf as Head of the respective Steering Committees over several years. After the acquisition of Oxford Asymmetry International he extended and complemented the offering of the combined entity in pre-clinical drug discovery services, provided substantial support to Business Development and was instrumental to strengthen Evotec's move into proprietary drug discovery programs. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer and Member of Management Board of Evotec AG. He was instrumental for Evotec OAI´s strategic move into proprietary discovery programs, in partnership with other biotech companies (e.g. DeveloGen). Dr. Jessen served as President of Discovery Programs Division (DPD) of Evotec AG from January 2003 to February 29, 2004.

Research Interest

Previously, Dr. Jessen worked for six years in the pharmaceutical division of Hoechst AG. In 1996, he served as the Head of Biotechnology of Hoechst Marion Roussel (HMR), Germany and established the Centre for Applied Genomics in Munich. During the HMR merger, Dr. Jessen served on the international integration team for biotechnology. He worked for two years as a Group Leader in the screening department in Frankfurt am Main. Dr. Jessen serves as a Director of 2cureX ApS. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Ascenion GmbH until Director. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at Evotec (Göttingen) AG. He served as a Member of Advisory Board at Proteros biostructures GmbH. He studied for one year at Harvard Medical School, Department of Genetics. Dr. Jessen undertook Postdoctoral Studies at the Laboratory of Structural Biology at the MRC Center in Cambridge, England. Before he received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Max Planck Institute in Martinsried, Germany in 1989, Since 1986, Dr. Jessen holds a degree in Chemistry and biochemistry from the University in Kiel, Germany.
