Biography
Originally, I graduated from Aarhus University, majoring in computer science and minoring in mathematics. Subsequently, I obtained a PhD in computer science doing research in different algorithms for the control of autonomous robots. Along the way, I did a research stay at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. During my studies, I worked with dynamic control of a group of mobile robots moving in formation (see article), but I also worked with humanoid LEGO robots, studying how little it takes before people attribute emotions to robots. After my PhD I switched field and became a researcher at the Bioinformatics Research Centre (BIRC) at Aarhus University for 5 ½ years. Bioinformatics is a field dealing with biological data such as DNA, and I worked closely with molecular biologists to create an automated analysis of DNA from related plants and development of web-based tools (se article here and here) that other researchers worldwide have since used. I have always been interested in communication. In 2015, I have thus published the book "The robots among us" together with Søren Tranberg Hansen.
