Biography
I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Aarhus University in 1989 and a PhD degree also from Aarhus University in 1994. I have been employed at Aarhus University from 1989 to 2014, with the exception of a position at Lancaster University from 1995 to 1996. I have worked at the Alexandra Institute as Distinguished Participatory Designer since October 2014. Since 1997 I have primarily worked as a project manager and user involvement expert on a number of national and international research and development projects. The major projects include: The Prehospital Patient Record (PPJ) where we (CSC, Judex, Alexandra Institute, Atea, RadioCom) develop digital and mobile records for the entire pre-hospital units (call centres, ambulances, emergency medical cars, emergency units, etc.) @aGlance (2008-) with the support from ISIS Katrinebjerg and the Central Denmark Region we have worked with (and still do) support for overview (at-a-glance) and cooperation for the emergency personnel at major events. The EU project PalCom (2004-2007), in which we designed and implemented a platform for pervasive computing with focus on Palpable Computing. The EU project Workspace (2001-2004), in which we worked with new forms of support for distributed collaboration and advanced visualizations. The Dragon project (1997-1998), in which we developed a prototype of a Global Customer Service System for Maersk Line. In terms of research I have always focused on Participatory Design and Computer Supported Cooperative Design, and during the last 15 years also on Pervasive Computing.
