Biography
Mr. David Evans Shaw is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Black Point Group. Mr. Shaw is Founder and Consultant of Skinetics Biosciences, Inc. He co-founded Fetch Enterprises, Inc., in 2007 He was a Partner at Venrock from 2004 to 2009 and focused on investment in biotechnology sector. He co-founded PPD Dermatology, Inc. He served as an Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Ikaria Holdings, Inc., which he founded. He served as Executive Chairman of INO Therapeutics LLC. Mr. Shaw served as a Senior Advisor at New Mountain Capital, LLC which he joined in February 2004 till 2007. Previously, he was the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. He was the Chief Executive Officer and an Advisor within the State of Maine executive department. He has also served as a strategy consultant to consumer product, food and agribusiness companies. Mr. Shaw has founded or has been a Director of IDEXX, Cytyc Corporation, Cyteir, Ikaria, Modern Meadow, Skinetics, Itaconix, Microbia, Magen BioSciences, Direct Vet Marketing, Inc., Physion, Venrock Associates, New Mountain Capital, the film Albert Nobbs and many more. He also served as a Venture Investor and Director of Sapphire Energy and has been a director and founding investor of more than a dozen public and private companies. He serves as a Director at Modern Meadow, LLC. He serves as a Director of National Medical Health Card Systems, Inc. He also serves as the Scientific Advisory Board for Discovery Communications. He served as a Director of Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2004 to June 3, 2014 and Catamaran PBM of Illinois, Inc. from December 2004 to February 2007. He served as Director of PPD Dermatology, Inc. He has been the Chairman of The Jackson Laboratory and a Trustee and Board Member of Maine Medical Center, Board Member of Hurricane Island Outward Bound and other non-profits. He serves as a Director of National Park Foundation and founding chair of the Sargasso Sea Alliance. Mr. Shaw has served on the faculty of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government leading programs in corporate governance and business social responsibility and serving on the advisory board of the Center for Public Leadership. He also participated in the Senior Executive Program at Harvard Business School in 1986. Mr. Shaw has been Treasurer at American Association for the Advancement of Science since 2010. He has been a frequent speaker on business leadership, entrepreneurship and public service and a participant in NetLeaders, Mission Blue, TED, Fortune Brainstorm, the Sargasso Sea Protection Initiative, Biotech CEO, Teach for America, Time World Health Forum, the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference of the Department of Defense, the Congressional Advisory Committee on Biotechnology, Harvard Business School Senior Executive program and many other public forums. In September 2013, Mr. Shaw was named “2013 International SeaKeepers of the Year” by The International SeaKeepers Society. He received the Cheek Medal at the College of William and Mary in 2013. Mr. Shaw holds an M.B.A. from The University of Maine in 1976 and a B.A. from The University of New Hampshire in 1973. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law degree by Colby College in 2012 and also holds an honorary degree from Bates College.
