Biography

Mr. Søren Nielsen has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of William Demant Holding A/S since April 1, 2017 and has been its Member of Executive Board since September 1, 2015 and President of Oticon A/S since 2015. Mr. Nielsen served as the Chief Operating Officer at William Demant Holding A/S since June 2015 until April 1, 2017 and also served as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer until April 1, 2017. In this functions, Mr. Nielsen is not unused to resolving business critical tasks at Group level. In the past three years, he has - in addition to his responsibility for the overall hearing instrument business - also been responsible for William Demant's Shared Services. Mr. Nielsen has been the President of Oticon A/S at Oticon Australia Pty. Limited and Oticon, Inc. since September 2008. Mr. Nielsen is responsible for Research & Development, marketing and Human Resources from Oticon's development centre at Smørum on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

Research Interest

Mr. Nielsen started his career in Finance where he was responsible for the integration of Bernafon into the Group and in the following years, he received the best imaginable introduction to the many different areas of the business. He was a rare Visitor to William Demant's headquarters in Copenhagen. In 1997, he returned to Copenhagen where for some years, he worked with QA and subsequently as a Project Manager of a number of big development projects. Three years later, he became business responsible for a part of Oticon, which at that time focused on products to be sold in high volumes at low prices. Throughout the 2000s, he was an important part of Oticon's management and took part in ensuring a string of significant commercial successes, e.g. Oticon Delta. Mr. Nielsen served as a Director of Royal Copenhagen A/S. He used Oticon as a case in his thesis in 1995. Mr. Nielsen has a Master of Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
