Biography
Education: University of Copenhagen - MD, DMSc. In addition to co-founding Nordic Bioscience, Dr. Claus Christiansen, MD, is chairman of the board of directors. Claus finished medical school at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1971, and received his DMSc degree in 1976 and his degree in Clinical Pathology in 1978. From 1978 to 1992, he held the position as Chairman and Head of the Department of Clinical Pathology and Clinical Chemistry at Glostrup Hospital, University of Copenhagen. In 1991 he and Dr Bente Juel Riis founded what was later known as Nordic Bioscience and in 1992 they founded Center for Clinical and Basic Research (CCBR) where he served as CEO until 2013. Claus published his first peer reviewed paper in 1971 and has since published more than 1010 papers and book chapters in several disease areas. Claus is particularly famous for his work in the area of calcium metabolism in postmenopausal women and has an H-factor of 138 (JUN 2017). Dr. Christiansen organized ‘The International Symposium on Osteoporosis’ in 1984 (Copenhagen, Denmark), 1987 (Aalborg, Denmark), 1990 (Copenhagen, Denmark) and 1993 (Hong Kong). He has been an invited speaker on calcium metabolism and related topics at almost all international meetings in the field and has served in the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
