Biography
Mr. Poul Nissen serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Pcovery ApS. Mr. Nissen is professor of protein biochemistry at Aarhus University and director of the interdisciplinary Centre for Membrane Pumps in Cells and Disease (PUMPKIN) of the Danish National Research Foundation. He also leads the Center for Structural Biology at Aarhus University. His primary research areas include transmembrane transport and signalling, in particular P-type ATPase pumps and neurotransmitter transporters, as well as Sortilin-type neuroreceptors and eukaryotic ribosomes. He has published 45 papers on the structure and function of key components of the cell, including nine in Nature, Science and Cell. He is an EMBO member and member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters. He is the coinventor of seven patents and patent applications focusing on structure-assisted drug design. Mr. Nissen obtained his PhD in Structural Biology in 1997, followed by post-doctoral training at Yale University.
