Biography
Prof. Frank C. Odds serves as an Emeritus Professor of Medical Mycology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Prof. Odds is well known for his research and publications on pathogenic fungi and fungal diseases, particularly in the context of Candida infections and antifungal agents. Prof. Odds worked for many years at the University of Leicester. He then moved to industry, becoming Director of Bacteriology and Mycology at the Janssen Research Foundation (Johnson & Johnson) in Belgium. He took up his Chair at the University of Aberdeen in 1999 and became a founding Member of the Aberdeen Fungal Group, now recognized as one of the largest European groups researching fungal disease. He is a Past President/Chair of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology, the European Confederation of Medical Mycology, the British Society for Medical Mycology and the Medical Mycology Division of the American Society for Microbiology. He serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Pcovery ApS. He served for more than 6 years on the Wellcome Trust Immunology and Infectious Disease grants committee, including three years as co-chairman. He is a graduate of Leeds University.
