Biography
Dr. Topp is a Professor at the University of San Diego School of Nursing. Dr Topp has conducted extramurally funded research for the past 25 years which has examined the impact of various forms of exercise including resistance training on the health and functioning of older adults.
Research Interest
His findings are widely published, presented and include over 100 papers published in scientific journals and over 200 presentations presented at regional, national and international conferences. His current programs of research involve examining the effect of prehabilitation before surgery on rehabilitation among total knee replacement patients. Another ongoing research project involves comparing cryotherapy (application of ice) with menthol gel on blood flow, pain and muscle performance among healthy young adults. A final ongoing project Dr Topp in conducting involves improving the nutrition and physical activity habits of incoming college freshman through peer-based interventions.
