Biography
Assistant Professor Gitte Balling has researched reading experiences and literature dissemination and completed his PhD project in 2009 on the literary aesthetic experience. At the moment she is working on projects within participatory culture and expressive cultural dissemination. What I particularly interest is cultural and cultural consumption in a broad sense. On the one hand, it appears that, together with Beth Juncker, I have a research project on expressive cultural dissemination. It is not least about creating a theoretical basis, that is, an understanding we can use to define new forms of dissemination and new understandings of what is actually going to happen in a dissemination room. And there is already something going on in practice at the institutions, but what we are interested in investigating is what's really happening and what theoretical understandings we can make about it.On the other hand, I have written about reading and literature and am very pleased with that part of the culture as well. There I have a project with Nanna Kann-Christensen, which is about literature dissemination at the public library, which we have so far written a few papers about. There are also some more along the way, which are about librarian's ideas about and understanding of literature dissemination - ie. what perceptions they have of literature dissemination within the libraries. So it's mainly from the sender's point of view. We want to know what they are thinking of libraries about dissemination, what for some things they focus on how they do it and why. But that is something that has a slightly longer perspective. In addition - and that's something too There is an insight into the project with Beth - Nanna and I have also thrown us into participatory culture. It does not have anything to do with cultural dissemination, but more about the kind of cultural activity that takes place outside the institutions, which we have been in touch with and which we also intended to work on. The idea is to go out and interview some people about their activities and what they get from it within what is called participatory culture.
